A couple weeks ago, I introduced the Reed Krakoff RK40 to you, and now there’s a new iteration of this bag which, coincided with the brand’s new Soho boutique opening. It may be a material you wouldn’t associate with a bag, but this limited edition version is made from Reed Krakoff’s signature grey felt.
Reed Krakoff has a distinct design aesthetic, one that merges beauty with extremely clean lines. His bags are no different, and while I first liked the RK40, I’ve completely fallen for this felt version. I’m so fascinated by this bag, and I frankly it surprises me a bit.
Reed Krakoff told us, “Grey felt has been a signature of the brand because the beginning. There’s a chicness to its simplicity that I love. combining it with the brights of this French calfskin gives the RK40 a new personality–the combination of creative expression and elegance that feels very SoHo.”
Felt is a material we don’t see used on the exterior of numerous bags, but on this bag it works so well. I concerned the felt wouldn’t hold up, but the interior is lined in calf leather, which will give the bag terrific shape. With only 40 pieces in existence, each has been personally hand-signed and numbered by Reed.
The majority of the bag features the grey felt, but leather detailing on the handles and hangtag are provided in 9 different offsetting colors. I’m digging the purple, but the white version is amazing; it features a light blue interior calf lining. Each bag was made in Reed’s new York atelier, and with only 40 pieces, these are sure to sell out. You can get yours for $1,290 through Reed Krakoff.
